What’s on at the cinema now they’re open Posted On 25 May 2021

The cinemas have been open for a couple of weeks now, and big movies have been released

COVID had a huge effect on everyone’s lives, and Hollywood blockbusters weren’t immune. With cinemas closed, a huge number of films were available online, however, not everyone wanted to pay over the odds without having the cinema experience; the smell of popcorn, the huge screen, the booming sound that comes from all around.

But now, the cinemas are open again and blockbusters from the past year and this year are drawing in the crowds. The biggest recent release is the family-friendly comedy, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway with Peter once again voiced by James Corden. The perfect movie for this upcoming bank holiday weekend with the kids.

In fact, the kids are being spoilt this bank holiday with the release of Cruella, starring Emma Stone, from Disney which is an origins story of the well-known-, black- and white-haired villain from 101 Dalmatians. And if that’s not enough, some Showcase cinemas are showing the original Peter Rabbit as well as the hilarious Scoob, which is another origin story this time centering around Scooby-Doo and Shaggy.

If you have a child free bank holiday, there are some great films that have finally made it to the cinema including the much-anticipated Godzilla Vs Kong, a sequel to Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island, which brings the two monster giants together for the first time in a Hollywood film. The Oscar Award winning Nomadland has finally had a full release and the other big winner from the Oscars, The Father will be released on the 11th of June.

And lovers of Horror are to be spoilt with the long-delayed A Quiet Place 2 getting a full release on Bank Holiday Monday. The film follows the Abbott family from A Quiet Place who must now face the terrors of the outside world. And for fans of all things supernatural and spooky, check out The Unholy starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan – Negan from the Walking Dead – which promises plenty of frights this bank holiday.
